Ruby Spinel in Biotite is a beautiful crystal that aligns the Heart chakra with the Root chakra. It has a complex mixture of minerals that compromise of a Biotite (phyllosilicate minerals - mica group), Ruby (aluminum oxide). The history is fascinating, dating back to around 951 AD, where Arabic writing mentioned this stone/crystal. Later writings spoke of an earthquake that exposed the stone, and locals tried to use the ‘red’ color for dye, but was unsuccessful so it was disposed of, only to be found much later by a jeweler who recognized it’s value. It is also stated that the great explorer, Marco Polo came near the mines during his travels through Afghanistan, searching for treasures. There is a long history for discovery, and many highly mineralized specimens that come from this region.
